Kaufland

Kaufland is owned by the Schwarz Gruppe, which also owns Handelshof and Lidl. It is a hypermarket chain that first opened its doors in Neckarsulm in 1984. Kaufland is predominantly based in parts of what was once called West Germany. Kaufland now also operates in other parts of Europe, including Poland, Croatia, Czech Republic and Bulgaria. The company claims to employ more than 73,000 people throughout Germany. Kaufland operates its own meat processing plants and bakeries. All the products carry the Kaufland logo and seal of quality. The company has also purchased several drug store chains, such as Schleckerland, giving it a massive retail presence throughout the company.
